Really great interview of Nicolas Todt with Christian Menath.
He talks about Charles Leclerc, his job as a manager, why he invest in drivers and many more! He also mentions in the interview that a full season in Formula 2 costs 2milion$
Nicolas Todt: “[..] But the thing I’m most proud of is Charles. I signed Charles when he was 14. He was about to stop racing because he was running out of money. I decided to help him. I introduced him to Ferrari a few years ago and today he drives there.”
Nicolas Todt: “For me, someone like Charles is the best proof, my greatest pride. That he went to Ferrari and delivered there. We started so early and that’s what I like about my job.”
Nicolas Todt: “The most impressive driver I have ever met is Michael [Schumacher]. I am happy to know him very well and to have him as a friend. It is the whole package he represents: Not only the talent, but also his work ethic of never giving up, his whole attitude.”
Nicolas Todt: “I remember when Michael was with Ferrari and Ferrari had many problems. He always supported the team. A lot of drivers would have said: the car is bad. Nevertheless he always helped and supported the team professionally. He was a leader.”
Nicolas Todt: “Being fast is one thing. But having charisma and leadership skills is another. I have met very few people like him. For me, Michael Schumacher is a role model for all drivers.”
What is your relationship with Mick?
Nicolas Todt: We are friends. I helped him last year with Ferrari because Corinna asked me for support. I did that as a friend. I am not his manager. If he asks me to help him, I am happy to do so.
