Since Nico Rosberg retired in glory after placing the 2016 F1 title in his trophy cabinet, many fans were saddened by the news. However, the fact that the German no longer guides a Mercedes Formula One around might just mean we get to enjoy more sides of his effervescent personality. For instance, the former champion seems to be getting closer and closer to Ferrari lately.
Nico Rosberg was recently spotted behind the wheel of the Prancing Horse’s current flagship, the Monza SP1. And the sighting took place in Maranello, the Italian carmaker’s home town, with the single-seater being joined by a film crew. Friendly as always, Nico even agreed to take a selfie with the gear head who spotted him, as you’ll get to notice in the latter’s Instagram post, which awaits you at the bottom of the page.
As for the famous driver having been spotted inside a Monza SP1 (single-seater) rather than the SP2 (two-seater), let’s just asume he’s more familiar to this layout.
Perhaps this is just a commercial for Ferrari, but there might just be more to the tale. For one thing, Rossberg has been recently teasing the Internet about buying a hypercar and while he did mention names such as the Mercedes-AMG One and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, maybe he decided to go for the naturally aspirated wonder we have here.
As mentioned in the intro, the former F1 champ has previously show his love for Ferrari. For instance, in an YouTube video released last month, Rosberg jokinly mentioned he would step in for the Italians should their driver, Sebastian Vettel, receive a one-race suspension following a penalty.
