Nico Rosberg shocked at how clean fight between Charles Leclerc and Verstappen has been in 2022. Nico Rosberg on fight between Charles and Verstappen.

German-Finnish former racing driver. He competed in Formula One from 2006 to 2016, Nico Rosberg, thinks there will be fireworks between Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and his title rival Max Verstappen as the championship duel heats up, with the Monegasque driver starting from pole position in today’s French Grand Prix, followed by the 2021 Formula 1 world champion.

In the first part of the 2022 season, the battle between the two has been very fair, without any major incident, unlike last year’s title duel between the Dutchman and Lewis Hamilton, as each has spoken several times about the respect that they share for one another.

After a difficult run for Charles Leclerc, marked by several power unit issues and poor strategies that have led to many lost points, the Monegasque driver put himself back in contention thanks to a great race in at the Red Bull Ring in Austria two weeks ago and is now back in second place in the Drivers’ standings. Ahead of the French Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver is hoping to continue to reduce the 38-point gap to Max Verstappen at the top of the leaderboard, and will line up alongside his rival on the front row for the race which takes place at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet.

Former F1 champion surprised by how clean fight has been so far.
Nico Rosberg admitted that he is shocked at how clean the fight between Verstappen and Leclerc has been up to this point in the 2022 Formula 1 season. The 2016 World Champion shared his thoughts in an interview for Sky Sports F1: “Honestly, that surprises me massively, because they have gone wheel-to-wheel so much and so intensely. That there’s never even been kind of a discussion moment or anything has been a huge surprise.” – he added.

Max Verstappen/ Charles Leclerc harmony will not last, Nico Rosberg feels
According to the former Mercedes driver, who was involved in a fierce battle for the world title with Lewis Hamilton for three years, eventually winning in 2016, feels that the harmony amongst the title rivals is not likely to last for the second part of the current Formula 1 campaign:

“I would bet probably even my house on it!” the former Formula 1 driver joked – “It’s not going to last for the whole season. With the amount of times they go wheel-to-wheel, there must come a moment where there’s going to be some wheel banging or different opinions on some kind of incident or something. Let’s see. As a fan, of course we want to see things heating up a little bit more, but I’m sure we’ll get that soon.” – Nico Rosberg concluded.
