Former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg is busier than ever. His team will participate in the Extreme E championship dedicated to electric suvs, he will tour the world following motoring at 360 degrees and will be in the Sky team to comment on the Formula 1 races. The desire to get back behind the wheel to race never came up, and therefore today he perfectly fits the role of the prominent columnist.
After the tests, Nico Rosberg also had a half idea of what Ferrari’s season could be like in 2021: “Let’s hope Ferrari will still improve a bit. At the tests they started badly, we hope they will recover soon, that they will get back on the right path to fight in front. But I think it will take long. I see the real chances of winning again only for 2022. In 2020 they took a huge step back, mainly due to the engine they had to change after the agreements with the FIA.” – the German told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Keke’s son also shared his point of view on the line-up formed by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc: “Sainz will put Leclerc in difficulty because he is strong. At the beginning of the season, Charles will be in front because he is already used to a number of things and then because for Ferrari he is the king. But then Sainz can do well”.
Regarding the role of the commentator, Nico Rosberg also admitted that he will have a certain sensitivity in dealing with the ‘red’ matter: “I know that in Italy if one day I have a Ferrari that is doing badly, it would be better not to stress it too much, let’s say. The same thing when I speak of Hamilton to the British. But it’s about nuances and ways, I’ll always say what I think” – he concluded.
