A special wheel gun to help avoid errors.
Starting this year, the Prancing Horse team will use new pneumatic guns for its tire changes which should reduce the margin of error. In fact, near the end of the screwing cup there is a LED ring that lights up green once the tire nut is screwed in correctly.
Scuderia Ferrari is not the first team to have introduced this novelty for its wheel gun. McLaren had already brought them to the track last season with the aim of increasingly reducing the duration of stops and thanks to this innovation the English team was able to complete many pit stops in below two seconds.
This will also reduce the time required to check the state of the nut in cases where the mechanic is not fully convinced that it has been screwed in perfectly.
