In view of the Canadian Grand prix, it would be impossible to ask Scuderia Ferrari for a reaction from a ‘technical’ point of view. As announced by the Italian side itself, the power unit arrived at the Maranello factory on Wednesday and the analysis immediately began to understand what happened to Charles Leclerc’s Power Unit in Baku, where engine 2 went up in smoke and became unusable for the rest of the season.

Identifying and addressing the problem in less than seven days is something that is simply not possible in Formula 1. The Maranello team will therefore go to Canada with a ‘B’ plan which will serve to avoid problems, while looking at this race with some optimism: “I’m not worried because we will use a new and low mileage Power Unit so we shouldn’t have any problems” said Team Principal Mattia Binotto himself, ahead of the race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

On the F1-75 car of Carlos Sainz, on the other hand, the problem was of a hydraulic nature and for this reason his engine did not suffer any major damage, with Ferrari therefore confirming the second power unit for him, thus carrying out an analysis work in the hope that the Spaniard will also be luckier than he has been in the last few races and will manage to cover the kilometers needed to collect data about the power unit. Particular attention will certainly be given to the delivery of the power chosen for Canada in order to avoid any other inconveniences.

The F1-75 car has proved it has the ability to perform well on any kind of circuits, so much so that it had the potential to dominate in Spain, score a double one-two finish in Monte Carlo and win the race in Baku. However, many unfortunate circumstances have led to brutal defeats in each of these three trips and therefore Ferrari, while in Maranello will proceed to evaluate and fix these problems that also affect the customer teams, will try to react with pride and bring home the best possible result.
