Multiple Ferrari staff members and engineers rumoured to be handing their CVs around paddock. Ferrari staff members handing their CVs around paddock.

After the departure of Mattia Binotto, David Sanchez, Gino Rosato, Jonathan Giacobazzi and the relocation of Inaki Rueda to a role with far more limited tasks, rumors say that other Ferrari staff members and key engineers are also starting to look around, sending their CVs to rival teams.

The Bahrain Grand Prix left important consequences not only on the track, but above all off it. Indeed, in the aftermath of the Sakhir race weekend, an earthquake was unleashed at the top of Scuderia Ferrari and even beyond, which seems far from being over. After the exit of key figures such as Mattia Binotto, David Sanchez, Gino Rosato, Jonathan Giacobazzi, the Italian media believes that other engineers are also starting to look around, sending their CVs to rival teams. This would be due to a feeling of uncertainty and fear that hovers in Maranello these days.

David Sanchez, head of aerodynamics and a key figure in Maranello court for over 10 years, was the most recent to trigger an internal earthquake for Scuderia Ferrari. As already reported, the Frenchman looked for various opportunities in other teams during the winter, aware of being in a precarious position following the resignation of Mattia Binotto. Again according to La Gazzetta dello sport, McLaren would be the famous English team willing to sign him.

At the same time, Gino Rosato and Jonathan Giacobazzi, two historical figures of the team, also left the Italia side after many years. Frederic Vasseur therefore found himself with a very difficult situation to manage in this start of the 2023 Formula 1 championship. The French manager now has to find a replacement quickly while at the same time making sure that the development of the SF-23 car is not affected by the process.

Even before the start of the 2023 Formula One season, Inaki Rueda had been demoted from the role of Head of Strategy, now holding a marginal role in the Maranello factory. The chaos at the top of the team has obviously created dismay and apprehension even among the engineers, who are now starting to look around. According to various Italian news outlets, other engineers have also started sending their curriculum elsewhere, looking for new opportunities in rival teams.

At this point, the Bahrain Grand Prix seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for Scuderia Ferrari. A tense atmosphere for some time and which has been made worse by the poor performance and result at the Bahrain International Circuit in the first round of the season. Frederic Vasseur will have a lot to work to try and find stability in the short term. Nonetheless, doubts about a season that should have been a winner continue to grow.
