According to some rumors, Mugello could return on the Formula 1 calendar again this year after the Canada and Turkey events have been cancelled.
While the championship is on fire with the fight between Red Bull and Mercedes, other issues affect the paddock. There are more and more insistent rumors that Formula 1 would like Mugello to be present again on the calendar in this championship.
According to some indiscretions, it seems that different teams would have (the conditional is a must) already booked accommodation in the surroundings of the Italian circuit. The mayor of Scarperia and San Piero, Federico Ignes you, was recently asked about the matter and said: “If Liberty Media will be available to collaborate with the structure of the racetrack and our administration, we will certainly not say no. Let’s see what will happen.”
The mayor is very keen on the positive comments about the circuit: “I was very pleased to have read about the circuit and the beauties of our territory on the sidelines of the race weekend”.
The possible presence of Mugello on the calendar could be favored by the trend of Covid-19 in some countries which should host races on the 2021 Formula 1 calendar.
At the moment there is no certainty and confirmation with respect to this information, even if the presence of Toto Wolff and Stefano Domenicali during the Motogp weekend at Mugello did not go unnoticed. Furthermore, last year, many drivers were satisfied with the track, which could speed up the selection process for replacement.
For now, all that remains is to wait for confirmation and understand how Formula 1 will move to prepare for any new cancellations.
