In France and Austria the circuits are getting ready to accommodate about 15 thousand people a day for the Formula One events that take place from 20 June to 4 July. The Paul Ricard track and the Red Bull Ring circuit would therefore be the first, if we exclude the interlude of Sochi 2020 and the Monaco Grand Prix this year (which had much smaller numbers in terms of fans) to reopen the gates to the general public with continuity. So far, it should be reiterated, there is nothing official, only statements that however come, in the Austrian case, also from the government. As for Italy, there are high expectations for Monza. Everything will obviously depend on the progress of the vaccination campaign and on the impact that the Coronavirus situation will still have at the beginning of September (the Italian Grand Prix will be held on the 12th).
Automobile Club of Milan president and Italian GP boss Angelo Sticchi Damiani is very optimistic about the reopening of the racetrack to the general public: “What we would like to do in Monza for Formula 1, pandemic situation permitting, is the setting up of no-Covid stands for vaccinated people, and others stands for people who will make the buffer with a spacing, therefore at 50% of the capacity. Now we cannot establish how many people will be vaccinated on 10-11 September, we hope that as many as possible, certainly we cannot believe we will reach the 100 thousand people mark like in 2019 but we hope to fill the stands to 70-80 percent.” – he said, in an interview for Rai Radio1 .
