Devastated areas, destroyed livelihoods and more than 200 deaths – this is the shocking result of heavy rain and flash floods that hit the Ahr and Erft regions in mid-July. The shock was deep-seated, but the willingness to help was enormous. Ferrari Driver Academy member and Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher also wanted to do his part to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
Mick Schumacher recently visited the “Wibbelstätz” kindergarten in Hönningen/Ahr, which had been destroyed by the flood disaster – the children are currently being cared for at another location. Here, he was briefed on the events of the flood disaster by Michael Pauly, the local councillor, and Jürgen Schwarzmann, the local mayor. Mick Schumacher was accompanied by the television station RTL and DVAG (Deutsche Vermögensberatung). The Schumacher family as well as DVAG had jointly participated in RTL’s telethon with a generous donation. The kindergarten received a share of this money.

Afterwards, Mick Schumacher visited the alternative kindergarten “Wibbelstätz’ in Adenau. Here, he was welcomed by the director Susanne Kny and the children with a song. Mick Schumacher had some toys in his luggage, including a tricycle, which he then gave to the children. Local mayor Jürgen Schwarzmann thanked Mick Schumacher for his visit and invited him to the opening of the kindergarten in 2023.
