When Mick Schumacher will drive his first Formula 1 race in Bahrain at the end of the month, it will be exactly 30 years since his father’s debut in Spa in 1991.
Mick smiling: “I hope I get further than he did back then.” Michael only managed 700 metres after the start due to a burnt clutch. Mick: “I am very happy and proud to bring the Schumacher name back to F1. It also pushes me to work as hard as I can.”
Mick Schumacher on working with Jock Clear (who also worked with Michael at Mercedes):
“I have talked to him a lot about the comparison between other drivers and my father and made some notes about it. When I am driving my first race, the emotions will come and I’m definitely looking forward to that. I hope to finish my first race with a big grin and butterflies in my stomach.”
Mick on the Haas livery: “I don’t mind the colours. As long as the car is fast, I’m happy. I just see the team colours in it. It’s a very nice car, it’s nice to see the number 47 on it. I’m looking forward to doing my first laps in it.”
