Ferrari junior Mick Schumacher is obviously disappointed after not being confirmed by Haas for next season.
The German driver, who will have to settle at best for a reserve role in 2023, believes he has done what is necessary to deserve the seat for next season as well. However team principal Günther Steiner had different opinions and decided to replace him with Nico Hülkenberg, in the hope that the German driver’s experience will alow them to score more points.
The son of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion wanted to point out he was satisfied with his work during the two-year period with Haas: “I feel I did a great job. I respect Haas’ choice and am focused on the future. We’ve had ups and downs, but the important thing is to be able to constantly improve and let’s not forget that it was only my second year in Formula 1. In addition to this, I don’t even know if 2021 can be considered a debut year, we were simply behind everyone“, – the Ferrari junior added, reffering to the completely new rules and regulation which was introduced took place last winter and the poor competitiveness of Haas in 2021:
“This year I had to get used to staying and fighting in the midfield pack. I think we managed to do that over the course of the season and I think I got the most out of every situation.” – Mick Schumacher continued.
In recent weeks, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff shared his thoughts on the current situation of the 2020 Formula 2 champion, suggesting that Mick Schumacher was at the top of the Silver Arrows list to replace Nyck De Vries as third driver, given the passage of the Dutchman in Alpha Tauri.

Clearly there will also be the matter of Mick Schumacher’s status with Ferrari, as the 23-year-old is part of the Maranello Academy since January 2019, with the Italian team that could agree to end its working relationship with Michael’s son, if such a move could guarantee them better career prospects.
