Mick Schumacher could change teams soon. According to a recent report from Motorsport Italy, the young German, who is currently in his second season with Haas, is among the possible candidates to replace Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin. It is clear that the four-time Formula 1 world champion is not all satisfied with his experience alongside Aston Martin and could decide to leave the sport at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
As reported by Motorsport Italy earlier today, Ferrari junior Mick Schumacher is at the top of the list of candidates. The Italian media states that Mick Schumacher, apart from his talent and abilities, could also have two major qualities which have attracted the interest of Aston Martin: the most important surname in Formula 1 history and a German nationality. The well-known Italian portal, in detail, reports:
“Aston Martin is going through a difficult time and hopes to increase car sales in Europe by focusing in particular on the German market. Last February, only 87 cars were sold in Europe, an inadequate number for the size and ambitions of such a big company.”
However, for Aston Martin to be able to sign Mick Schumacher in 2023, one other important scenario has to take place: the young German would have to be released from his current contract with Ferrari and would therefore leave the Ferrari Driver Academy at the end of 2022, without the prospects of joining Ferrari in Formula 1 for the future. Not an easy prospect to give up, but in Formula 1 never say never. For this reason, according to Motorsport, the Aston Martin is also thinking of Fernando Alonso, whose relationship with Alpine is currently at its lowest terms.
