Ferrari Academy Driver member Mick Schumacher was diplomatic in confirming that a place on the Formula 1 grid with the Maranello team is his ambitious target for the years to come.
The support of Ferrari was vert important in opening up a space for Mick Schumacher on the Formula 1 grid last season, as the Italian side reached a deal with Haas for 2021. Despite having to drive very poor car, Mick Schumacher quickly he established dominance over fellow rookie team-mate Nikita Mazepin, which helped him secure his place with the team for the next F1 championship.
At the same time, Mick Schumacher will step up his Ferrari involvement for 2022, sharing reserve driver duties with former Alfa Romeo Italian driver Antonio Giovinazzi. But as he looks into the future, his biggest dream would be to race for Ferrari as part of their starting line-up – an opportunity he is aware that every driver strives to achieve.
“Ferrari is a goal for many drivers, and so it is for me.” – he said, as reported by RTL. And it was his strong first F1 season that convinced the Italian side he is on the right path and ready for the reserve driver task: “What I did last year was worth it. That teams see it, it’s a big step,” he said.

The 2022 Formula One season is marked by the start of a new regulatory era in Formula 1, with major changes that led to some very interesting and different aero solutions adopted by teams wheb designing the new cars. At a first look, no team has gone more daring and unique than Ferrari with the F1-75, a car that Mick Schumacher could get the chance to dive in case Carlos Sainz or Charles Leclerc would not be available at a certain moment.
Asked about the Ferrari F1-75, Mick Schumacher cexplained the car is “quite wide, yet it has a dent on top of the sideboard. I haven’t seen that on any other car,” he added.
But the hope is Ferrari are not Mick Schumacher’s only chance of experiencing some stand-out results in the upcoming season. Haas should also make a big step forward this year, especially given the fact that they did not develop their previous car in order to shift all focus and resources on the VF-22, which Mick Schumacher and the team hope can be a regular points-scorer.
The first testing session is currently underway at the Circuit de Catalunya, but the Ferrari junior points out that only the first race of the 2022 Formula 1 season will reveal the team’s true pace and potential: “We’ll have to wait and see, the first race will show.” – Mick concluded.
