And according to Jussi Posti, head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Traumatic Brain Injuries at Turku University Hospital in Finland, the few available details do not suggest any progress: “Based on what we know, I don’t believe he leads a very active life. All the information we have indicates that he is not doing well. Patients confined to bed for long periods become fragile and stiff, to the point where it is no longer possible to get out of bed after so many years. According to what we know, there probably hasn’t been any change in his condition in the last decade. I doubt anything sudden has changed at this stage. Typically, patients like this recover as much as possible within the first two years after the trauma; after that, the level of recovery remains fixed without improvements. This type of patient is like experimental models at best.”
