Netflix has officially confirmed the release date for Schumacher ’94, a new Formula 1 documentary centred on Michael Schumacher and the 1994 season that helped establish the German driver as one of the defining figures of his generation. After considerable discussion about the project during the opening months of 2026, the production will arrive on the streaming platform on October 2, 2026.
The documentary represents another step in the increasingly close relationship between Netflix and Formula 1. That connection was initially built around Drive to Survive before the platform gradually expanded its motorsport catalogue with other productions, including the miniseries dedicated to Ayrton Senna.
Schumacher ’94 documentary gets official Netflix release date
Schumacher ’94 is dedicated to Michael Schumacher’s debut Formula 1 season and will retrace some of the most important moments from the first year in the championship for the man who would eventually become a seven-time world champion.
The new production follows Netflix’s previous documentary about the German driver. ScuderiaFans previously covered the Netflix Schumacher documentary released in 2021, which offered Formula 1 fans another look at the career and story of one of the sport’s most successful drivers.
Corinna Schumacher involved in new Michael Schumacher documentary
The project is being produced by LEONINE Documentaries and directed by Christin Freitag. A number of people closely connected to Michael Schumacher’s career will take part through interviews, helping the documentary revisit the key stages of the German driver’s 1994 campaign.
Among those involved will be Corinna Schumacher, Michael Schumacher’s wife. She also featured prominently in Schumacher, the previous documentary about her husband released by Netflix in 2021.
The involvement of figures connected to the seven-time world champion’s career will form an important part of the new production as it looks back at the period highlighted by its title. More stories covering the German Formula 1 legend can be found in ScuderiaFans’ Michael Schumacher archive.

When will Schumacher ’94 be released on Netflix?
Netflix has now ended the uncertainty surrounding the launch date. Schumacher ’94 will be released on October 2, 2026, with the announcement made directly through the German Netflix account.
The documentary will therefore add another Formula 1-focused production to the platform’s catalogue, this time placing Michael Schumacher and the 1994 season at the centre of the story.
