Scuderia Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has no doubts. The battle between the Maranello team and Mercedes for the second place in the 2023 Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship, with the Mercedes team currently leading by 20 points with six races remaining in the season, is valuable training for the upcoming championship.
The Italian side, therefore, will not sacrifice the early months of 2024 for the sake of this final rush, but as emphasized by the Team Principal of the Scuderia during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, it will serve to refine the set of skills that will be useful in the future.
“If we will sacrifice something for 2024 in the current battle with Mercedes? It’s never a sacrifice because I believe that the same performance comes from performance,” said Fred Vasseur, as quoted by the Spanish edition of Motorsport. “It’s too late to get into the wind tunnel for this season, but what we can do with the current car will help us for next year. We shouldn’t postpone the battle; the battle is now with Mercedes, and we have to face it.” – the French manager pointed out.
Continuing, Fred Vasseur stated: “It’s always the best way to prepare for the future and for the team’s mentality. It’s crucial that everyone is in the fight, and we will keep this battle going until the end of the season.” – the Ferrari boss concluded.
