Despite persistent speculation surrounding his future, Andrea Stella has once again made it clear that he has no intention of leaving McLaren in search of a new challenge.
The Italian has occupied a senior leadership role within the Woking-based team for several years and has played a key role in McLaren’s remarkable return to the front of the Formula 1 grid. However, recent rumours have linked him with a potential move to Ferrari in a prominent management position, prompting fresh questions about his long-term future.
Andrea Stella is not the only McLaren figure to have been the subject of transfer speculation. Oscar Piastri has also been mentioned as a possible target for Red Bull should Max Verstappen decide to leave the Milton Keynes-based team.
However, Andrea Stella quickly dismissed the rumours surrounding Oscar Piastri, describing them as little more than unfounded speculation.
“You mentioned the silly season, and I think we are already in that period of the year,” Stella said. “When we think about Oscar, we couldn’t be happier. I believe we are seeing the best version of Oscar on track, and also a happy young man as well as the best version of himself away from the circuit.”
Stella also highlighted the strong relationship between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, something he considers a crucial ingredient in McLaren’s recent success.
“He has a great relationship with Lando, and I think the team is in its best shape since I became team principal. So it is very clear what McLaren’s direction is: we want maximum stability.”
Since Andrea Stella was appointed team principal in 2023, McLaren has enjoyed one of the most successful periods in its recent history. Under his leadership, the team has secured two Constructors’ Championships and celebrated a Drivers’ Championship victory with Lando Norris in 2025.
Despite those achievements, Stella insists that the journey is far from over. His focus remains firmly on adding more trophies to McLaren’s collection and continuing the team’s rise in Formula 1.
“As far as I’m concerned, I am fully committed to McLaren,” he stated.
“One of the things that makes me most proud of my experience as team principal is that we managed to fill the trophy cabinet at the MTC with silverware, and that even led to the creation of a new dedicated section in the display. For me, the mission is very clear: we need to fill that new section over the coming years at McLaren.”
The comments leave little room for interpretation. While speculation about Ferrari and other potential opportunities may continue, Andrea Stella’s priority remains the same: building on McLaren’s recent success and ensuring the team remains a championship contender for years to come.
