Vasseur between caution and confidence, Ferrari must maximize upgrades in Miami
Scuderia Ferrari used the long April break to carry out private testing, but above all a filming day at Monza, where it was able to evaluate several new components that are expected to be fitted to the SF-26 in Miami. Much has been said about a new version of the “Macarena” rear wing, but there should also be many other areas of the car involved in the update package.
Vasseur calls for focus: “We must focus on ourselves”
Speaking ahead of the Miami weekend (May 1–3), Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur confirmed the rumours without revealing too many details, maintaining a cautious approach while waiting to assess not only the work carried out in Maranello, but also the level of the competition.
“We are very happy to finally be back on track. The break has been really long, which is quite unusual in the middle of the season. At the factory we have worked intensively to analyse the data from the first three races and to prepare for Miami in the best possible way.”
“We will have some aerodynamic updates, but we know that others will not stand still. We need to stay focused and approach the weekend with humility.” In Miami, teams and drivers will immediately be thrown into a Sprint weekend format. The only practice session will last 90 minutes instead of the usual 60, meaning the team must be effective in maximising the work carried out in that single session.
Therefore, there can be no distractions and maximum concentration will be required: “We must think only about our own weekend and bring home the best possible result,” concluded team principal Frédéric Vasseur in Ferrari’s official media channels.
Frédéric Vasseur has voiced a blend of caution and conviction regarding Ferrari’s technical path as the 2026 season resumes in Miami. By stressing the importance of maximizing the extended 90-minute practice session and ignoring the noise from rival camps, the team aims to successfully integrate its latest aerodynamic upgrades. As the SF-26 hits the track with components refined during the Monza filming day, the Scuderia’s focus remains on objective analysis and internal performance to secure a strong result in the Florida Sprint weekend.
