F1 | Arrivabene on Race Anatomy comments on his situation with Vettel: words that reflect Ferrari’s reality
During the Race Anatomy broadcast, Maurizio Arrivabene commented on his past situation with Sebastian Vettel. Words that strongly reflect Ferrari’s current reality.
The 2025 Formula 1 season has finally come to an end for Ferrari. It was a failed campaign, concluded without a single Grand Prix victory, apart from Lewis Hamilton’s Sprint win in China, and with only seven podium finishes, all secured by Charles Leclerc. The Scuderia failed to live up to the high expectations set at the end of 2024, when Ferrari finished the Constructors’ Championship just around ten points behind McLaren.
That scenario did not repeat itself in 2025, as the Maranello-based team ended the season more than 300 points behind the Woking outfit. A massive step backwards, one that does not bode well ahead of the 2026 season. Speaking of figures who have passed through Ferrari, during yesterday’s episode of Race Anatomy on Sky Sport F1 Italia, the guest of honor was Maurizio Arrivabene. The former Ferrari Team Principal from 2015 to 2018 shared his thoughts on the current state of the Scuderia, also reflecting on his own time with the team.
His words on his time at Ferrari
Arrivabene, during one of his interventions in which he discussed what he would have done regarding the signing of Lewis Hamilton, said: “I can’t answer today with hindsight. You bring in a driver with all his titles, and you take on an enormous responsibility. You can’t expect him to arrive as a magician who changes everything. You need to build a strong car and create certainty around him. The right answer is: I don’t know.”
In addition to this, he spoke about his experience with Sebastian Vettel and what happened during that period: “Did Vettel send documents and notes like Hamilton does? Yes, he did. Were they useful? No… that wasn’t his job. In a team, everyone has a role.”
These are words that strongly reflect the situation Ferrari appears to be living through, with everyone confined to their own role. Of course, these are internal dynamics about which there is no absolute certainty, but some statements resonate louder than others.
