Scuderia Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene took part in Friday’s press conference ahead of the 2018 United States Grand Prix.
Maurizio Arrivabene was asked to comment on the supposed internal fights at Ferrari: “It is obvious that behind certain voices there is always the interest of someone to create confusion and mess within our team.”
Regarding the rumor that former Ferrari President Sergio Marchionne intended to replace him as team principal of the Scuderia, Maurizio Arrivabene added: “I was always aware of Sergio’s plans and these rumors are created because of lack of information. I do want to comment anything else, but what I can say is that I smile when I read some of the stories out there.”
“I always say that you win and lose together. We are a team of professionals who are still fighting against a great team like Mercedes, and it’s not something you can do with a team in disarray. You have to take into account the oversights on the part of the drivers and the team. Calculating the points left on track by the team and the driver now, it is a mathematical exercise that doesn’t change the ranking. With the competitiveness we have seen in the last few years, to be able to win a championship, it is essential to have an excellent car, like the Ferrari 2002 and 2004 were. I mean cars that can also cover errors that might come from the driver or the team. I remember the comeback that Sebastian did in some championships with Red Bull. On two occasions, six races from the end, he was behind many points, but thanks to his talent, and also because of a competive car, he was able to reassemble and hit the target.” – Maurizio Arrivabene concluded, ahead of the 2018 United States Grand Prix.
