Scuderia Ferrari managed to get back on the podium after two consecutive races in which the Maranello team encountered several problems and difficulties on track, in Canada and Azerbaijan. Sebastian Vettel finished second in the 2017 Austrian Grand Prix, which took place on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, while Kimi Raikkonen came in fifth, despite the fact that the Finnish driver started the race third.
While German driver Sebastian Vettel was close to fighting for victory with Valtteri Bottas, Seb had to eventually settle for second place, but still managed to increase his lead in the Formula 1 Driver Standings over Lewis Hamilton to 20 points. However, Scuderia Ferrari once again lost points to Mercedes in the close battle for the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship, ahead of the 2017 British Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place next weekend at the Silverstone Circuit near the village of Silverstone in Northamptonshire.
Maurizio Arrivabene, current team principal of Scuderia Ferrari, comments on the outcome of the 2017 Austrian Grand Prix, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website at the end of the race in Spielberg: “It was a very close race, which, once again showed that Ferrari is on the pace. Sebastian was able to fight for the win right to the very last corner, having produced a great drive. It was a shame for Kimi, who already on the opening lap, ran wide at turn 3 while fighting with Ricciardo. If not for that, with the car he had today, he too could have had a good race. The next race at Silverstone is just a few days away and as usual, we will be flat out to prepare for it.” – Maurizio Arrivabene explained.
