Just one week after the Chinese Grand Prix, where Scuderia Ferrari failed to win due to the unlucky timing of the Safety Car, the Italian team is ready for a new challenge, as Ferrari Chief Technical Officer Mattia Binotto talks about what to expect from the next round, the 2017 Bahrain GP, scheduled to take place at the end of the week:
“I think that in China we showed good potential, good race pace, which is very important considering that this was a different type of circuit. No doubt that in order to win and fight for the title we need to improve more and more, we need to keep pushing, to work hard, but I am sure that we can make it.” – Mattia Binotto said, ahead of the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix.
Non-executive chairman of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team and former Ferrari driver Niki Lauda has indicated that the Maranello team’s progress and impressive performance from the start of the season should be credited to Mattia Binotto, but Ferrari’s Chief Technical Officer does not want to take credit for the positive change at the team: “There are so many talented people working at Ferrari and we just have to give them the necessary time and resources. I am sure the results will be very good and we will be progressing well on the development of the car.”
As for the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix, Mattia Binotto expects another solid race from Scuderia Ferrari: “The track can be considered typical of most modern circuits, with a few long straights and slow corners. Sand may be, of course, a problem, so it is somewhat an unique challenge for everybody. The short time since the last race means that it is difficult to bring a lot of new things, but we have to get everything ready in time and to try to get the the maximum result, as always.” – Ferrari Chief Technical Officer concluded.
