Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto gives verdict on the Maranello team’s new power unit as compared to Mercedes, Renault and Honda:

Is your Power Unit back on par with Mercedes, Renault & Honda?
Mattia Binotto: “The gap has narrowed, but not completely closed. In 2022 we are aiming to improve further, aware that the others will not be sitting around either and that next year’s Power Unit will remain in use until the end of 2024. It should be borne in mind that starting from next year, it will be mandatory to use a new fuel with 10% ethanol, a factor that could have a major impact on performance. We are aware that we have not closed the gap to the best, also because the car largely remained the same. Still, I’ve heard people say that we should still make proclamations of victory, just because we are Ferrari. I think it wouldn’t be honest to do so. For our part, we will show that the progress is real and that we have the ability to get back into the fight for the positions we deserve. I feel I am able to promise that.”
