Martin Brundle feels “everything points to a battle between Ferrari and McLaren” for 2024 F1 title. In England, people are already talking fearlessly about a three-way championship F1 battle.

A Ferrari worthy of the Constructors’ title, now even the British media believe in the open fight in Formula 1. Three podium finishes in the last three races—a streak that hadn’t been seen since the trio of Miami, Imola, and Monaco. It’s a clear signal that the SF-24 car can once again aim high, attack instead of defend, and perhaps even dream big: the gap to Red Bull is only 39 points, and everything is still up for grabs in the final part of the championship.

Charles Leclerc’s impressive race victory at the Monza circuit in the Italian Grand Prix offers endless points of reflection. Of course, there’s the peculiarity of the track, as the Monegasque repeatedly emphasized, almost pleading with fans not to set unrealistic expectations. But there’s also a Ferrari that’s finally fast, dangerous, and aggressive. A Ferrari that, on certain tracks, could even emerge as a strong favorite.

It’s clear that Charles Leclerc has regained confidence in himself and his SF-24 car. The podium at Spa-Francorchamps might have been a fluke, the one at Zandvoort a stroke of luck, but the Monza victory is nothing less than a perfect blend of human and engineering brilliance. The goal remains to eliminate bouncing, but if the Maranello technicians succeed in doing so, there’s no reason to stop dreaming.

While Ferrari fans may still want to heed the cautious words of their Monegasque leader, in England, people are already talking fearlessly about a three-way championship battle: “The Constructors’ Championship is a different story, considering McLaren is now only eight points behind Red Bull,” writes Martin Brundle on Sky Sports’ website. “But Ferrari is now just 39 points away from the leaders.”

“Looking at the current balance of power,” explains the former Formula 1 driver, “everything points to a battle at the top between Ferrari and McLaren. So we can still hope for an exciting end to the season.” – the British former racing driver added, ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
