Mario Isola: “Per la prima volta Pirelli porterà le Supersoft al GP di Spagna”. Il circuito dal punto di vista delle gomme.

Il responsabile car racing di Pirelli ribadisce inoltre che che la Casa milanese ha ridotto di 0,4 millimetri il battistrada dei pneumatici slick per diminuire il rischio di surriscaldamento.
Pirelli porta mescole più morbide al Gran Premio di Spagna rispetto agli anni scorsi. Sul tracciato di Montmeló farà il suo debutto la supersoft, nominata insieme a soft e medium. Non ci saranno quindi i P Zero hard, finora sempre scelti per questa gara. Il nuovo asfalto, provato per la prima volta dai team a marzo durante i test pre-stagione, ha in parte modificato alcune caratteristiche del circuito catalano, che si presenta ora con più aderenza e ridotti livelli di usura e degrado.

Il circuito dal punto di vista delle gomme
_ L’asfalto è più liscio, ma curve lunghe e veloci come la 3 e la 9 comunque sollecitano molto i pneumatici.
_ I team hanno preso parte ai test pre-stagione con temperature più basse e monoposto meno performanti. I livelli di usura e degrado dei pneumatici dovranno essere rivalutati anche a seguito dell’evoluzione della pista.
_ Le temperature tendono a essere elevate nel corso del fine settimana.
_ Il Circuit de Catalunya è uno dei più utilizzati per i test, poiché presenta un’ampia varietà di curve e carichi che incidono molto sulle prestazioni delle monoposto.
_ Le nuove caratteristiche dell’asfalto hanno portato alla decisione di ridurre di 0,4 millimetri il battistrada dei pneumatici slick. Ciò non avrà alcuna conseguenza sulle prestazioni, ma aiuterà a minimizzare il rischio di surriscaldamento.
_ Il pneumatico anteriore sinistro è quello maggiormente sollecitato.
_ Nel 2017 la maggior parte dei piloti ha effettuato due pit stop con un’ampia varietà di strategie. In passato si sono viste anche strategie su tre soste.

Mario Isola, responsabile car racing di Pirelli: “Il rifacimento dell’asfalto ha modificato alcune delle caratteristiche del tracciato di Montmeló. Per questa gara, così come in Francia e Gran Bretagna, abbiamo quindi deciso di ridurre di 0,4 millimetri il battistrada dei pneumatici slick per diminuire il rischio di surriscaldamento. Questa modifica non influirà in alcun modo sulle prestazioni dei pneumatici e sulla lunghezza degli stint in gara”.

“Su questo circuito i Team hanno già provato durante i test pre-stagione, ma ora le condizioni si presentano diverse: temperature più elevate, monoposto più veloci, oltre all’evoluzione dell’asfalto. Per la prima volta in Spagna portiamo i P Zero Red supersoft, due step più morbidi della mescola più tenera nominata nel 2017, la soft, in quanto tutte le mescole 2018 sono di uno step più morbide rispetto allo scorso anno”.

Le novità
_ Prima gara europea del 2018 su questa pista dove debutta la Supersoft e i pneumatici slick presentano un battistrada ridotto di 0,4 millimetri.
_ Strategie differenziate per Ferrari, Mercedes e Red Bull: i tre top team hanno scelto quantitativi diversi di set disponibili per mescola.
_ Inizia il campionato GP3, evento collaterale del fine settimana insieme alla Formula 2.
_ I test in-season prenderanno il via martedì 15 maggio e continueranno mercoledì 16. McLaren e Force India saranno impegnate anche nei test di sviluppo in ottica 2019 con una seconda monoposto in entrambi i giorni.
