Back to the floor
The rumors shared by the Italian media about a new floor to be fitted on the SF-25 were not backed up by Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur in the Montreal preview, as he has consistently avoided giving details about updates since the beginning of the season.
However, some confirmation came from Marc Gené, who revealed during an interview with Sky Sport that the SF-25 will feature some improvements as early as this Sunday’s race at the Red Bull Ring.
Marc Gené confirms the upgrades
“There will be some technical updates on the Ferrari, without going into detail, which will be officially announced on Thursday,” said Ferrari ambassador Marc Gené to the satellite broadcaster. He added: “But that won’t be the deciding factor, because very often it’s more important to optimize the package you already have. That said, we will have improvements already in Austria.” – he pointed out.
Marc Gené also shared his outlook on the competitive order ahead of the weekend in Styria: “It’s a track with very fast corners, except for two. McLaren is the favorite, and I expect the top four teams to be separated by very little. It will be crucial to have a perfect weekend, just as Fred Vasseur said in Montreal. When something doesn’t go well, fighting for the podium becomes difficult.”
The Spaniard ended with a remark about Max Verstappen: “I wouldn’t bet money on Max as champion, I see him more as an outsider. He’s had some exceptional weekends, but his car is not as consistent as McLaren’s.” – the Ferrari brand ambassador concluded ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
