Carlos Sainz from Ferrari to Williams
Carlos Sainz waited for months for a call from a top team after Ferrari decided to bring Lewis Hamilton into the team starting in 2025. However, the talks did not go well, and the Spaniard opted for Williams, chosen among the mid-tier teams that had shown interest in him.
The strength of Carlos
Carlos Sainz has never had simple teammates by his side, starting from his debut with Toro Rosso, where he found Max Verstappen on the other side of the garage, then through his time at McLaren with Lando Norris, and currently at Ferrari where he has partnered with Charles Leclerc.
After nine and a half years in Formula 1, it can be said that Carlos Sainz has proven to be more than a solid driver, capable of not being overshadowed by his teammates. This is the opinion of Marc Gené, best known as a tester for Williams and Ferrari, as he explained in an interview with Spanish daily newspaper Marca:
“Carlos is a potential world champion because he has competed against the best drivers. He had Max, then Lando, and Charles as benchmarks in the team, and he has always been on their level. I think no one can doubt that.” At Williams, he will team up with Alex Albon: “Sainz will have an extremely fast teammate, and he is also an exceptional guy to work with,” concluded Marc Gené, who is currently a brand ambassador for the Maranello team and also an F1 analyst for Sky Italy.
