One of the most complicated things for Scuderia Ferrari environment is managing expectations and pressure. The Italian media attention, but not only, is clearly focused on the prancing horse for its history, its emblem, and its importance within Formula 1, but this year the aim is to make far less comments and proclamations — just like chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna did during the presentation—and wait not only for the presentation day but directly for the first on-track tests.
These cars are very sensitive and unique, and the truth does not always provide the same data as the virtual data from simulations. More than one team has been burned by the simulator feedback, having to rethink once they hit the track.
Few words and many actions; this will be Scuderia Ferrari’s motto this winter, hoping to start the 2024 Formula One season with a decidedly better approach than the last one. This week in Maranello, both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be engaged in simulator sessions with the 2024 Formula 1 car, and their feedback will be crucial for evaluating the simulator data and the behavior of the car. The first virtual Ferrari 2024 is “ready” and will be the car that the two drivers will test in many sessions, waiting to drive it on the track during the Bahrain testing sessions in February.
Team principal Frederic Vasseur and the Ferrari technicians will focus on progressing in all areas without setting specific performance goals or making too many proclamations. The first answer that Ferrari will provide will only come once they hit the track for the tests and the first race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, as explained by F1 experts Giuliano Duchessa and Paolo D’Alessandro for formu1a.uno
