Luigi Mazzola commented on the Spanish Grand Prix during Sky’s Race Anatomy show, dismissing Ferrari’s remaining hopes for the 2025 Formula 1 championship after the first nine rounds of the season.
Luigi Mazzola’s comments
Here is what the former Ferrari engineer said: “Why did Hamilton struggle so much during the race? The answer lies in his driving style.” – the Italian pointed out – “Lewis doesn’t perform well with an unbalanced car, whereas Leclerc can compensate for oversteer—he always manages to find something to stay fast. But I would look at the points, the standings: the championship is over, because those two [Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, the McLaren drivers] are now fast, and there’s no circuit where they can’t perform. Lewis Hamilton is not wrong when he talks about 2026. At this point, it even makes sense to start leaning more towards 2026, which still remains a big unknown for everyone,” Luigi Mazzola concluded at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix, which was held at the 4.657-kilometre Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last Sunday.
