A “mega job” from Ferrari in the Miami Sprint Race, with Lewis Hamilton claiming third place. The seven-time world champion had already won the short race in China earlier this year.
Over the radio, he immediately praised his team, congratulating them on the pit stop: “Great job in the pit stop, guys. Mega job.” Hamilton certainly can’t complain, as he secured 6 points for Ferrari. On the other hand, it was a Sprint to forget for his teammate Charles Leclerc, whose race ended before it even started.
“It was really great today, and I’m really happy,” Sir Lewis Hamilton said after the Sprint Race in an interview with F1. “It’s been a tough year so far, but I never thought it would rain in Miami. What a race it gave us, thank you so much to everyone,” he continued with enthusiasm.
Reflecting on his race, Hamilton admitted his struggles: “I think I struggled a bit with the intermediates, like everyone.” But then, he took the gamble with the soft tyres: “I made that decision at the end, I took the risk because I wasn’t going anywhere. And it paid off.” Finally, he confessed: “If there had been a few more laps, I would’ve given McLaren a real fight.”
Now, Ferrari must quickly return to the track and focus on gaining more points. At 10 PM, Formula 1 will take to the track to prepare for the qualifying session of the Miami Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday. It will be crucial to get both cars into good positions. Indeed, Leclerc’s accident caused significant damage to his SF-25, making it impossible for him to return to the race.
