Things could hardly have gone worse for Lewis Hamilton. Luigi Mazzola commented on yet another Ferrari disaster at the Brazilian Grand Prix, as well as the delicate situation the seven-time world champion currently finds himself in.
It has been a season to forget for Hamilton, who finished the Brazilian Grand Prix in the worst possible way. Starting from thirteenth on the grid, a collision at the start destroyed his front wing, forcing him to fight just to stay on track. In the end, the inevitable retirement arrived, sealing another disappointing weekend for the British driver.
“It’s obviously a disaster, a stress, and a disappointment for everyone in the team,” said Hamilton after the race, reflecting on his season with Ferrari so far. “But I’m trying to stay afloat and remain positive.”
Speaking on Race Anatomy, Luigi Mazzola shared his view on the difficult moment that Sir Lewis is experiencing this year. The former Ferrari engineer was direct, explaining that Lewis Hamilton likely decided to join Ferrari driven by the positive results of the previous season.
“He had great intentions. He was very convinced he would arrive and have a strong championship. Instead, he found himself with a car they still haven’t managed to understand or set up properly. It just isn’t there,” Mazzola explained.
In addition to the problems with the unstable and unpredictable SF-25, Lewis Hamilton has also had to face a particularly fast teammate, Charles Leclerc.
“And he found himself up against a driver who’s stronger than him. So he’s at the peak of disgrace and depression. It can’t get worse than this,” Luigi Mazzola concluded. He then offered a cautious prediction for the future: “If next year he finds a car capable of winning, he could somehow recover. Otherwise, he’s lost.”
With only three races remaining in the 2025 Formula 1 season, the question now is whether there is anything left to salvage from Lewis Hamilton’s first year with Ferrari.
