Lewis Hamilton sends realistic Ferrari message before British GP: “There are no magic wands”. Lewis Hamilton confident in Ferrari's long-term project despite challenges.

Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, 2026 F1

The British Grand Prix has always been one of the highlights of the Formula 1 calendar, but for Lewis Hamilton, Silverstone carries an even deeper meaning. The seven-time World Champion returns to his home circuit ready to race in front of his passionate supporters at a venue that has shaped some of the greatest moments of his career. This weekend could also see him achieve another remarkable milestone in Formula 1 history: read more here.

Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix weekend, the Ferrari driver reflected on the unique character of Silverstone, the incredible atmosphere created by the fans and the long-term development process that Ferrari is embracing as it continues to build toward future success.

Lewis Hamilton explains why Silverstone remains one of Formula 1’s greatest challenges

Asked about the characteristics that make Silverstone so special, Lewis Hamilton described the circuit as one of the most demanding and rewarding venues any Formula 1 driver can experience.

“There isn’t another place quite like Silverstone. It’s one of the fastest and most demanding circuits on the calendar, and those high-speed sections, especially Maggotts, Becketts and Copse, are a real challenge because you take them at incredibly high speeds with the car generating maximum downforce,” he explained.

“Very few circuits test you the way this one does, but it’s not only the track that makes it special. More than anything else, it’s the atmosphere. The support from the fans is always incredible, and when you’re out on track you can genuinely feel that energy. It adds something unique to the entire experience.”

A special bond with the Silverstone crowd

Over the years, Silverstone has grown into one of the flagship events of the Formula 1 season, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the world. For Lewis Hamilton, however, the significance of his home race goes far beyond attendance figures.

The British driver spoke about the emotion of competing in front of his family, close friends and the fans who have supported him throughout more than fifteen years at the highest level of motorsport.

“Silverstone is always one of the best races of the season. There’s something truly special about racing at home, on the circuit I watched as a child, in front of my family, my friends and the fans who have supported me for so many years. It’s been amazing to see how this event has grown over time. It’s not just about the numbers, it’s also about the diversity of the crowd. You see fans of every generation, and it really feels like a fantastic event for the whole family.”

“From the moment you leave the garage, you can feel the energy. You see the flags, you hear the crowd, and it creates an incredible atmosphere that immediately gives you an extra boost. That support means a huge amount to me and is definitely an additional source of motivation. The fans have played a fundamental role in the success I’ve enjoyed here over the years.”

Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari’s progress cannot happen overnight

Lewis Hamilton also discussed Ferrari’s ongoing development programme, emphasising that success in Formula 1 is never achieved through quick fixes or dramatic overnight transformations.

The Ferrari driver expressed complete confidence in the direction the team is taking, praising the dedication and professionalism shown by everyone working at Maranello.

“In motorsport,” the Stevenage-born driver said, “there are no magic wands. Everything comes from lots of small steps, built over months of hard work, commitment and trust from everyone involved, and that’s exactly what I’m seeing at Ferrari. I’m proud of this team and of the journey we’re taking together.”

He continued: “I’ve found a group of determined, tireless people who truly work together as one team, and that gives me tremendous confidence. Everyone in Maranello works relentlessly, just as they do between every race weekend. Now it’s about continuing to build, becoming more consistent and making the most of every single Grand Prix.”

Confidence remains high ahead of Ferrari’s Silverstone challenge

Lewis Hamilton’s comments reflect the mindset of a driver who is fully committed to Ferrari’s long-term project. Rather than expecting instant solutions, the seven-time World Champion believes sustained success will come through continuous development, teamwork and relentless attention to detail.

As Ferrari prepares for one of the most anticipated races of the 2026 Formula 1 season, both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will be aiming to build on the progress shown throughout the year. Backed by an enthusiastic home crowd at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton enters one of the most meaningful weekends of his career convinced that Ferrari is moving in the right direction and that consistent development will ultimately deliver the results the Scuderia is chasing.
