Lewis Hamilton gains momentum ahead of Silverstone: the updates lift Ferrari in Austria, and Lewis renews his belief in the SF-25
Finishing fourth behind his teammate may not fully satisfy a champion like Sir Lewis, but the Austrian Grand Prix still offered several positive takeaways. After the race at Spielberg, Hamilton spoke to Sky Italia, smiling confidently and even thanking Ferrari in Italian.
Lewis Hamilton regains belief: “Let’s keep pushing and attacking!”
“Grazie a tutti,” said the British driver in Italian. “I’m very grateful to the team, we’ve made great progress,” he explained. Fourth at the finish, just 9 seconds behind Charles Leclerc, the seven-time world champion missed out on his first podium with Ferrari but showed renewed optimism.
The updates introduced by the Maranello squad in Austria worked as intended, putting a smile back on the face of the driver from Stevenage. “We’re now the second-best team on the grid,” said a confident Lewis Hamilton, who is once again looking ahead with optimism. The upcoming races, including his home GP at Silverstone, will bring more upgrades to the SF-25. “We’re closer than in past races. We have to keep pushing and attacking. I believe we can keep improving.”
Feeling not yet perfect, but there’s a “positive little issue”
Lewis Hamilton also discussed his current connection with the SF-25. Despite growing confidence, he admitted he’s not yet fully in sync with the car. “I still struggle a bit in the race, especially with understeer at high speeds. That remains a problem, and I had to manage it.”
However, the British star revealed a surprising upside from Q3 on Saturday in Spielberg. “We discovered a small issue during my last qualifying attempt that cost me a tenth—that’s a positive thing,” he analyzed, confident that improvements can already be seen at his home race at the Silverstone circuit.
