Next year, the Formula 1 starting grid will be even more of a British colony. In addition to Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Lando Norris, the series will also welcome the very young Ollie Bearman. After making his debut this year at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Carlos Sainz’s replacement, the Ferrari junior will be a full-time driver for Haas next year.
The newcomer has already made it clear that, given his close ties with Maranello – having grown up in the Ferrari Driver Academy – his long-term dream is to win races and titles with the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team. This is the very team where Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion and F1 veteran, will be starting next year.
The young talent and the veteran
It is natural to imagine, given the circumstances, that the English press is already dreaming of a possible handover between the two in the future. For now, Lewis Hamilton has guaranteed his support to the new arrival in the Circus, should Oliver Bearman ask for help: “Taking Oliver Bearman under my wing? No, I haven’t been asked and I haven’t even thought about it. I don’t think he needs it.”
“I think he’s a pretty smart guy,” added Lewis Hamilton, who was the first to congratulate the 2005-born debutant in Jeddah at the end of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – “Of course, being one of the older drivers, my door is always open if anyone needs advice or has a question. He did a phenomenal job at the beginning of the year,” he concluded. “He is a brilliant young talent and I think it’s fantastic that the UK is producing many young talented drivers.” – the future Ferrari driver added.
