Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has switched from Riccardo Adami to Carlo Santi as his race engineer at Ferrari.
Hamilton now works closely with Carlo Santi
“I think Cedric Michel-Grosjean is an excellent addition and could work well with Hamilton as his future race engineer, but for now Carlo Santi is taking care of Lewis, and the partnership is working well. We will make a decision together, but there’s no rush,” Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur stated after the Australian Grand Prix. He emphasized that the Hamilton-Santi duo is performing strongly and that Maranello is in no hurry to promote the new hire from McLaren, Cedric Michel-Grosjean, as Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer.
Strong start for the Hamilton-Santi pairing
The Hamilton-Santi partnership, replacing last year’s engineer Riccardo Adami, has shown solid performance in China as well. During the press conference, the British driver highlighted that it’s definitely not the moment to “change anything” within Ferrari: The new race engineer has been a real stimulus for me, and team morale is high. I can’t wait to return to Maranello next week and see everyone again,
said the seven-time world champion.
The challenge of Ferrari’s first podium
Lewis Hamilton also explained that chasing his first podium with Ferrari has been a unique challenge for a driver of his experience: Standing on the podium is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my career, and it was my biggest challenge. I just had to wait for the right moment. I believe I have cultivated a really positive mindset at the start of this season, and I will carry it with me,
he added.
This insight into Lewis Hamilton’s mindset shows not only his determination but also how Ferrari’s internal stability, led by the Hamilton-Santi collaboration, is contributing to a confident start for the Scuderia in the 2026 season.
