The seven-time F1 world champion clarifies
Lewis Hamilton made his Ferrari debut in the Australian Grand Prix, securing a fourth-row start in qualifying and finishing tenth in the race. Not an unforgettable start, but the former Mercedes driver’s morale hasn’t been affected. Here are the seven-time champion’s words ahead of the Chinese GP, as reported by The-Race.com.
A more active role in the garage
“We’ll set up the car a bit differently for this weekend. Australia was the first race weekend, which is obviously different from test sessions, and it felt natural for me to just observe the team’s operations and procedures. Starting this weekend, I’ll take a more active role in requesting exactly the setup changes I want.” – he pointed out.
The relationship with Riccardo Adami
“There’s been an overreaction about my radio exchanges with Adami during the GP. It was just a back-and-forth, and I was very polite in my responses—I didn’t swear. At that moment, I was really struggling with the car and needed to focus. Adami has worked with world champions before; we’re simply getting to know each other, and there’s no issue between us. If you listen to other drivers talking to their engineers, it’s much worse. Just think about how Verstappen has treated Lambiase in the past. But those heated exchanges never made headlines, while a lot was written about what Adami and I said to each other. We had a friendly discussion about how to proceed and when and how to receive information.”

“We didn’t have the weekend we expected in Australia, but that doesn’t mean we should overreact. A small detail could have made a huge difference in our final result, but we move forward. Everyone is still motivated, and there’s great energy in the garage. Australia won’t define our season.”
