A new four-part Sebastian Vettel documentary will tell the story of the German driver’s life and remarkable Formula 1 career, with Lewis Hamilton appearing as one of its special guests. Titled Being Sebastian Vettel, the series will trace the four-time world champion’s journey from childhood and karting to his greatest successes at the highest level of motorsport.
The Heppenheim-born driver will not be the only familiar face appearing across the episodes. Members of his family and some of his closest friends will also take part, offering a more personal perspective on a career that included four consecutive Formula 1 world championships and a significant chapter with Ferrari. More coverage of Sebastian Vettel’s career and Ferrari legacy can be found in the ScuderiaFans archive.
Lewis Hamilton discusses his friendship with Sebastian Vettel
Lewis Hamilton will be among the most prominent Formula 1 figures involved in the documentary. The Ferrari driver will speak openly about his relationship with Sebastian Vettel and the friendship they developed away from the circuit.
“For me, he is my closest friend in the racing world. Sebastian has never judged or condemned me,” Lewis Hamilton reveals during his appearance in the documentary.
The two multiple world champions competed against each other for many years, including during Sebastian Vettel’s spell with Ferrari, when he challenged Lewis Hamilton for the championship. Their respective experiences with the Maranello team have continued to create points of comparison, including the very different pressures surrounding Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.
Helmut Marko also appears in Being Sebastian Vettel
Helmut Marko will also feature in the series. The Austrian played an important role during the period in which Sebastian Vettel achieved his greatest Formula 1 successes with Red Bull, including the four consecutive world championships that established the German as one of the defining drivers of his generation.
Being Sebastian Vettel is, for the moment, set to be available through German broadcaster ARD. It is not yet known whether or when the documentary will also be made available internationally.
