Lewis Hamilton appears to have truly found his rhythm. After finishing second at the Canadian Grand Prix, the British Ferrari driver was once again one of the main protagonists on Friday in Monaco.
Hamilton set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 after having already taken second place in the morning session, behind only his teammate Charles Leclerc. It is still too early for bold predictions, but the impression is that in Monaco the SF-26 is the car to beat, and Hamilton has every opportunity to fight for what would be his first victory as a Ferrari driver.
“Overall it has been a positive day,” the seven-time world champion told reporters. “The car behaved well from the very first laps and the team did a great job with the changes made between the two sessions, managing to complete the planned programme without any major issues.”
“Monaco is always a very particular challenge: the bumps and the very close barriers make it difficult to find the right balance and put together the perfect lap. There is still some potential to unlock and this evening we will focus on the details, because the margins here are very small and there is work to do ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.”
Tomorrow’s fight for pole position could already decide a large part of Sunday’s race outcome.
