After a difficult Las Vegas Grand Prix that was already compromised in qualifying, Lewis Hamilton explained his feelings heading into the final phase of the 2025 Formula 1 season. His last-place starting position had essentially wiped out any realistic hope of seeing Lewis Hamilton return to the podium in Las Vegas as he did one year ago. The number of positions he had to recover was simply too high, and the performance gap that currently separates Ferrari from Mercedes and Red Bull remains far too wide. That trend was evident again in the third-to-last race of the year, where despite an excellent launch off the line, car number 44 did not have the race pace needed to close the gap to his teammate.
Lewis Hamilton’s comments after the race
This was something Lewis Hamilton himself highlighted in the usual post-race interviews. “As far as the race goes, I’m not satisfied. The weekend was really complicated. At the start I just tried to stay out of trouble and I managed to gain several positions. But at that point I didn’t have enough to climb further up the field. The feelings are terrible. This is the worst season of my life, and no matter how much I try to change things, it just gets worse. I’m trying everything, everything. Both inside and outside the car, and I don’t know what else to change,” said the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion.
When discussing the outlook for the final two Grands Prix of the season, Lewis Hamilton admitted he was not confident considering how the entire 2025 campaign has gone so far. “We’ve had twenty-two races that have not gone well. So I expect the same from the last two. There isn’t a particular wish I want granted. I just want to give the guys in the team a good result because they deserve it,” added the Ferrari driver.
