During the Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari managed a position swap between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in questionable fashion, angering the seven-time world champion.
Lewis Hamilton without holding back
From mid-race onward, the Briton was on yellow tyres while his teammate had whites, but the Scuderia waited far too long before releasing him to chase down Kimi Antonelli. When the position swap between the two Ferrari drivers eventually took place, Lewis Hamilton failed to pull away from Charles Leclerc — or close in on the Mercedes driver — as expected.
Because of this, in the final laps, Ferrari instructed Lewis to give seventh place back to the Monegasque, then informed him of the gap to Carlos Sainz.
As soon as Riccardo Adami, race engineer for car number 44, told him he had a 1.4-second advantage over the Spaniard, Lewis Hamilton couldn’t resist snapping back: “Do you want me to let him through too?” he asked sarcastically.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s frustration is fully understandable, especially considering that this “theatre” was all for the sake of a distant sixth place — hardly a podium or a win…
