Lewis Hamilton to serve a five-place grid penalty in the Italian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton will experience his first Italian GP at Monza as a Ferrari driver – he has previously won five times at the circuit, most recently in 2018. Here are his words from the press conference.
A penalty hard to digest
“It’s frustrating to receive a penalty at Monza for something that happened before the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. This penalty is not the best way to start my first Monza GP as a Ferrari driver, but I will fight and try to climb back up the grid,” Lewis Hamilton said during Thursday’s press conference ahead of the Italian Grad Prix weekend.
The honor of celebrating a friend and mentor like Lauda
“Celebrating Niki Lauda even with Ferrari, after the victories I had with Mercedes, is fantastic. His legacy continues,” Lewis Hamilton added.
The excitement at Palazzo Reale with the fans
“Yesterday was an incredible experience; I had to pinch myself. The fans give us amazing energy,” the British driver concluded, reflecting on the event with supporters.
