Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his move to Ferrari and the major challenge represented by the 2026 Formula 1 season, a campaign in which he is determined to return to the front and reassert himself as a leader within the Scuderia.
After a 2025 season marked by difficulties and strong public statements, Hamilton is placing his hopes on the new regulations to give real meaning to his Ferrari project. The British driver, who recently celebrated his 41st birthday, knows he does not have unlimited time left to chase the elusive eighth world title that slipped away in 2021. For that reason, he is counting on the SF-26 — which showed promising pace during the Bahrain pre-season tests — to provide him with the tools needed to fight once again for podiums and victories in F1 2026.
Hamilton reflects on Ferrari move and overcoming challenges
In the meantime, the Ferrari number 44 shared a motivational message with his followers in a post published on his official LinkedIn profile. “A year ago I started a new chapter with Scuderia Ferrari HP. It was a huge leap, and with that came a lot to learn. Whether you’re changing teams in F1 or making a shift in your career, your willingness to learn will be your greatest advantage. Navigating a transition in this environment requires developing and redefining skills, such as collaborating under pressure and adaptability, while quickly building new ones to close the gap,” Hamilton wrote.
He continued: “As we head toward the season opener in Australia, I’m reflecting on how the concept of ‘work’ is changing for all of us. Technology and AI are transforming our industries, and while it may feel like rapid change, it’s also a huge opportunity to make the way we drive and create more future-ready. Leadership can depend on how quickly you adapt to change and your willingness to evolve. That’s what I’ve done in my first year. I saw opportunities to learn and I took them. My advice? Stay curious. Don’t focus only on traditional paths. Invest in the skills that make you human and the tools that make you faster. Your journey is yours to build. Let’s make this season unforgettable. Let’s go.”
The seven-time world champion’s words underline his renewed motivation ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season. With Ferrari aiming to return to championship-winning ways, Lewis Hamilton appears ready not only to compete at the front again but also to embrace a central leadership role in Maranello’s long-term project.
