Hamilton reveals Ferrari’s brake issue in Singapore cost him a stronger finish
It was a weekend to forget for Ferrari at Marina Bay, as the team left Singapore with only sixth and eighth place finishes. Lewis Hamilton was fighting for fifth position against Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the closing laps, but a brake issue on his SF-25 forced him to back off. Despite the disappointment, the seven-time world champion still managed to find positives in an otherwise frustrating race for the Scuderia.
Charles Leclerc also endured a difficult race, repeatedly asked by his race engineer to perform lift and coast to control brake temperatures. The Monegasque driver’s frustration was evident over the team radio, especially after yet another request to slow down to protect the car.

The Singapore Grand Prix left Ferrari with just 12 championship points, while Mercedes gained valuable ground in the Constructors’ standings. For Lewis Hamilton, the issue with the SF-25’s brakes cost him a potential fifth-place finish, which ultimately became ninth after a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits.
“The Soft tyres gave us great pace to attack and allowed me to close a big gap to the cars ahead,” explained the seven-time world champion. “Unfortunately, a brake problem cost us an overtaking opportunity and the chance to score more points.”
Even so, Lewis Hamilton was keen to focus on the positives as the team prepares for the next round of the season. “The last few days have been challenging, but there are definitely encouraging signs,” he said. “I felt comfortable in the car all weekend and we had really strong pace in the final third of the race. We had the potential to be much further up the order this weekend, starting from qualifying. Now the goal is to maximise our package for Austin and execute everything perfectly to bring home as many points as possible,” Ferrari’s official statement read.
Despite the setback in Singapore, Lewis Hamilton’s performance once again highlighted his determination and consistency, as Ferrari continues to chase a long-awaited breakthrough with the SF-25.
