Lewis Hamilton spoke to the media ahead of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, delivering a blunt assessment of Ferrari’s internal flaws and the Maranello operation. The seven-time world champion is clear: he refuses to continue under the same conditions seen during this challenging season.
On the eve of the final race, Lewis Hamilton again sent a message to Ferrari leadership and the team. After 24 races, he has had the chance to fully understand the inner workings of Maranello and identify its weaknesses. Dossiers, previously mentioned over the summer, document all the mistakes Ferrari must fix to return to winning ways. Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Lewis Hamilton outlined his views.
Hamilton: “There is much to learn. All these aspects must be considered”
“Of course, next week we will run tests,” Lewis Hamilton said, referring to the sessions where Ferrari and other teams will get a final opportunity to test Pirelli’s 2026 tyres. The program for these tests has already been thoroughly discussed. Lewis Hamilton then returned to the subject of internal changes that need to be made to prepare for next year. The seven-time world champion appears frustrated with the “stagnant” processes at Maranello. “Then we’ll go back to the factory and I will have to decide what my approach will be when it comes to sitting down with the key stakeholders to make decisions, and how this approach will create the necessary change.”
Beyond organizational adjustments, changes could also be coming in Lewis Hamilton’s garage, as his relationship with race engineer Riccardo Adami has never fully developed. “And then, in terms of personal reflection—I mean literally every weekend I wrote down what I felt, what went wrong, the decisions I made. So there is a lot to learn. During my break, I will review these decisions and take notes on how I can make better choices in the future. The environment I work in, the team personnel, how people are utilized, whether they need to change positions to work more effectively—all these different aspects must be considered in my personal space to optimize our teamwork.”
Lewis Hamilton calls for immediate change
Two direct questions clarified Hamilton’s stance on the current state of Ferrari. Are these changes necessary? “Yes.” Can we simply continue like this? “Absolutely not.”
Concise and clear, Lewis Hamilton’s message is unmistakable: Ferrari must change and have the courage to do so if it truly wants to return to the top. Otherwise, the team risks continuing as is, focusing only on business growth rather than results on the track. Fans are waiting and deserve recognition, and having a seven-time world champion calling for accountability is a wake-up call to an environment that has relied far too long on past triumphs.
Abu Dhabi may be the final act of 2025, but Lewis Hamilton has just opened the first chapter of what he expects to be a very different Ferrari story in 2026.
