Lewis Hamilton has shared a concise, one-word response to his new teammate Charles Leclerc after Ferrari unveiled the first official photos of the pair together.
Last week marked the beginning of Hamilton’s new journey as a Ferrari driver, as he made his first appearance at the team’s headquarters in Maranello. On Wednesday, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion took to the track for the first time in a Ferrari, completing a test session at the team’s private Fiorano circuit. Following the session, Hamilton’s lap times were quickly compared to those of his new teammate Leclerc and even F1 legend Michael Schumacher.
This week, Hamilton is set for his second test session in Barcelona, Spain, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where he will continue to familiarize himself with his new car.
Ahead of the Barcelona test, Ferrari released official images featuring both Hamilton and Leclerc in their 2025 race gear, marking another step in the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.
In response to Leclerc’s social media post, where the Monegasque driver shared pictures of his new helmet design with the caption, “New 2025 helmet babyyyyyy. I’m sure it will be a fast one,” Hamilton offered a brief yet impactful reply, commenting simply, “Clean.”
As the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season approaches, with the first race scheduled for March, the British driver has been warned of the challenge ahead, particularly from Charles Leclerc, who is expected to be a formidable teammate and competitor.
Former *Top Gear* presenter and F1 enthusiast Jeremy Clarkson commented that Hamilton would face a significant challenge in trying to outpace his teammate, Charles Leclerc. Jeremy Clarkson pointed out that Charles Leclerc speaks Italian, is well-acquainted with the team, and doesn’t spend as much time posing for photos. He also noted that many consider Leclerc to be the fastest driver, particularly due to his strong performances in single-lap shootouts.

Jeremy Clarkson speculated that the former Mercedes man might be aware of these factors. He suggested that Lewis Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari might not have been solely about pursuing another championship but could be driven by a desire to experience driving for Ferrari, which he described as motorsport’s “crown jewel,” before the end of his career. Regardless of his motivations, Clarkson wished the British driver the best of luck.
The 2025 Formula 1 championship is set to kick off in March, with the Australian Grand Prix taking place at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit on March 16.
