After being eliminated in Q1 at the Belgian Grand Prix due to his own qualifying error, Lewis Hamilton responded with monosyllabic answers during interviews, despite the fact that the mistake was not related to Ferrari.
Once again, a small error ruined what could have been a better weekend. Hamilton’s qualifying mistake will force the seven-time world champion to start from the back of the grid in the Belgian Grand Prix, while Charles Leclerc managed to place his Ferrari in an impressive third position.
This stark contrast in results highlights, yet again, the persistent struggles of the former Mercedes driver to find the right balance with the Ferrari SF-25. The situation appears increasingly difficult to reverse, especially since the number 44 driver has already publicly stated his focus is on the 2026 season.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton keeps his responses brief
Speaking to journalists at Spa, including reporters from ScuderiaFans.com, Lewis Hamilton limited his answers to monosyllables after the error that cost him elimination in Q1. “The car has been the same all weekend. In qualifying it wasn’t terrible but it was still difficult. We had to put on a new set of tires to pass the Q1 cut, but then my mistake made it useless,” explained the Ferrari driver – “From my side, another mistake. I really have to look internal, I have to apologise to my team because it’s just unacceptable to be up in both Q1s. It’s a very, very poor performance from myself. Everyone is working flat out back at the factory. We have had upgrades, but I think that’s probably it for the rest of the year. I think the focus is now, back at the factory at least, is to focus on next year’s car. This season has been a tricky one.”
“Will it be better in the race? No, I don’t think so. Obviously there will be opportunities with strategies and so on, but it will be tough for me,” Lewis Hamilton added.
