Lewis Hamilton has parted ways with engineer Riccardo Adami for 2026, and a new candidate has emerged who could work alongside the Ferrari driver.
On the day of the presentation of the new SF-26, further news has emerged regarding Lewis Hamilton’s future race engineer for 2026. Following the separation from Riccardo Adami, Ferrari will look to “patch things up” for the Barcelona tests, but for the rest of the season a specific name is already starting to circulate.
Lewis Hamilton’s new season begins under the banner of change, not only on track but above all behind the scenes. After a year marked by uncertainty, defeats and disappointment, the seven-time world champion is now tasked with rediscovering his magic. To do so, the British driver has decided to intervene decisively in the technical organisation surrounding him.
The breaking point was the relationship with Riccardo Adami, previously race engineer to Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz, but with whom the seven-time world champion never seemed to find the right feeling.
As reported by Daniele Sparisci and Giorgio Terruzzi for Corriere della Sera, it was Hamilton himself who asked Frédéric Vasseur for a new name to work alongside him for the remainder of the season. As a result, Adami was relieved of his duties and reassigned to a new role within the team.
An interim solution and a name from McLaren
While waiting for a definitive appointment, the team has opted for an interim solution. Temporarily taking on the role of race engineer will be Carlo Santi, a highly experienced figure who is well known for his long-standing work with Kimi Räikkönen. Santi will act as Hamilton’s main point of reference, but he will not be the only new face alongside the British driver.
During the very first tests in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton will also be supported by Bryan Bozzi, the race engineer who normally works with Charles Leclerc.
According to Corriere della Sera, the final long-term profile could come from outside Ferrari, with a name linked to McLaren. A scenario that would further reinforce the idea of a true rebuild of the working method around Hamilton, who is now called upon not only to be fast, but also to rebuild a deep and effective connection with his team.
