Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have temporarily exchanged the Formula 1 cockpit for paintbrushes, with the two Ferrari drivers taking part in an unusual art challenge during the current break in the 2026 Formula 1 season. The result was a colourful collaborative painting that prompted plenty of amusement from the pair and a deliberately self-deprecating verdict on their artistic abilities.
The light-hearted activity formed part of a collaboration between Ferrari and Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0, offering a very different look at Hamilton and Leclerc away from their usual racing environment. Both Ferrari and Peroni subsequently shared footage of the session through their official social media channels.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc face a very different Ferrari challenge
There were no lap times, engineering discussions or race strategies involved this time. Instead, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were given a completely blank white canvas together with just three colours of paint: red, white and blue.
The process began with the Ferrari pair pouring the paint across the canvas with little apparent concern for creating an organised pattern. Once the colours had been applied, the two drivers picked up brushes and attempted to turn the initially random mixture into something resembling a finished composition.
The video captures plenty of laughter and playful interaction as the artwork gradually takes shape. There are also quieter moments as the two drivers study what they have created, with their reactions adding to the deliberately informal nature of the challenge.
It offered a change of pace from the competitive storylines that normally dominate Ferrari Formula 1 news, showing the team-mates working together on something with no sporting consequences whatsoever.
Ferrari drivers give their painting a memorable name
By the time the session was complete, Hamilton and Leclerc appeared to have reached an appropriately humorous assessment of their work. Rather than presenting the painting as a serious artistic achievement, the two Ferrari drivers named their creation The Disaster of Charles and Lewis.
The finished canvas is certainly unconventional, with the three colours overlapping and blending across the surface after the drivers’ combination of pouring and brushwork. Their chosen title also fitted the playful mood of the exercise, with neither driver appearing particularly interested in taking the final result too seriously.
Ferrari and Peroni extended that same tone to fans when the video was published, inviting followers to decide for themselves whether the finished work should be considered a disaster or a masterpiece.
Ferrari gives fans a different view of Hamilton and Leclerc during F1 break
The collaboration provided Ferrari with a lighter piece of content during the pause in Formula 1 action and allowed supporters to see another side of the relationship between its two drivers. Instead of competing against the stopwatch, Hamilton and Leclerc were faced with the considerably less familiar task of agreeing on what to do with a canvas covered in red, white and blue paint.
The result may not be destined for a traditional art gallery, but the session achieved its purpose as an entertaining off-track moment involving Ferrari’s driver pairing.
The complete painting session can be watched in the video shared on the official social channels of Ferrari and Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0.
