Lewis Hamilton continues to loudly demand Ferrari updates and raises the alarm.
The Canadian Grand Prix turned out to be yet another complicated weekend for Lewis Hamilton, who, with the Ferrari SF-25, was left out of contention for top positions, finishing the race behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Hamilton had started from fifth on the grid, the result of a solid qualifying lap, but during the race he progressively dropped off the pace of the front-runners, lost ground to the McLarens, and became involved in mid-pack battles. In the post-race interview after the Canadian GP, Lewis Hamilton explained the real reason behind the issues during the race, which led to a loss of 20 points of downforce.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion also expressed concern and frustration about the Ferrari SF-25’s upgrade plan for the rest of the season:
“Obviously, I’m asking for it,” said Lewis Hamilton, referring to his repeated calls for updates. “We see how others are bringing updates. I honestly don’t know why we haven’t brought any. I believe one is coming very soon, I hope.”
A statement that comes across as a message to the Ferrari pit wall from a driver who expected greater responsiveness in technical development from the team.
Frédéric Vasseur, however, has already made it clear that updates are not the solution to the current problems of the Ferrari, which are likely deeper and linked to structural limitations in the SF-25 project.
The contrast between Hamilton’s expectations and the technical approach defended by Fred Vasseur therefore raises new questions about the team’s immediate future, as it navigates a difficult period and increasing pressure from its drivers.
In Canada, Lewis Hamilton himself appeared somewhat subdued and unable to speak openly about Ferrari’s real current issues.
